Minding My Business: A Survival Guide for the Overworked and Under-Quiet

The word is out: Minding My Black Ass Business is officially in the wild, and against all odds, the reviews are coming back mostly positive. I was prepared for a few pitchforks, but it seems people are actually enjoying the ride.

So, why did I write this?

Honestly, it started as a survival mechanism. Have you seen the state of social media lately? It’s a digital asylum where everyone is an expert on everything they just learned about five minutes ago. Between the performative outrage and the "hustle culture" gurus telling you to wake up at 4:00 AM to drink lemon water and stare at the sun, I’d had enough. I wanted to write something for the people who are tired of the noise—the ones who just want to close their tabs, put their phones on "Do Not Disturb," and reclaim their sanity.

Then there’s the politics. Whether it’s the high-stakes theater of national elections or the petty drama of a neighborhood HOA, the "politics of everything" is exhausting. We’re constantly being told that our resilience is a superpower, but let’s be real: being "strong" all the time is just another way of saying you're underpaid and overworked. I wrote this book because I wanted to explore what happens when we stop performing and start opting out.

In Minding My Black Ass Business, I follow Darius and Amara—two people who are essentially "invisible" high-achievers. They’ve spent their lives being the reliable ones, the ones who sustain everyone else while being treated like household appliances or high-yield savings accounts. I sent them to the remote woods of the Olympic Peninsula because sometimes you have to literally run away from the world to hear your own voice again.

This book is a mix of mystery, dark humor, and a very necessary "clapback" to a society that feels entitled to our peace. If you’ve ever felt like a ghost in your own home or a cog in a very silly machine, this one is for you.

Go ahead and grab a copy. Your "Do Not Disturb" mode will thank you.
